Connecting a Simulator

Overview

For this tutorial page i'm going to assume I am Joe Smith and want to add a region to the [http://www.osgrid.org OSGrid].

Here is my machine example information I will be referencing.

* User Name: Joe Smith
* Server IP: 100.100.100.100
* Region Name I Want: TestLandia
* RegionLocation I want: (1111,1111)

* Port 9000

Registration

If you do not have a User Account for OSgrid, please sign up for one now by selecting "Create Account" on the menu.

Open Coordinates List : [Click for the open coordinates listings]

Configurations

Now, to get configuration started , lets first make sure your [OpenSim.ini] is setup to work in grid mode for OSGrid.

Here are the things you ned to change in your OpenSim.ini to connect to OSGRID.
Note that the keys for all the osgrid servers is "1234"

/bin/OpenSim.ini (osgrid.org example)

/bin/config-include/GridCommon.ini (osgrid.org example)

/bin/config-include/FlotsamCache.ini (osgrid.org example)

Now run OpenSim.exe and it should begin asking you a number of questions about the first Region you want to set up. Enter in the name of the region as "TestLandia", enter in your ip when asked for ip, make the master user your user you registered with, set the location equal to the one you registered. After all the information is taken, your region should begin running and now be connected.

Region Configuration
Here is my region configuration just for reference, note, these are generated from when you first run OpenSim.exe with no regions yet defined:

/bin/Regions/Regions.ini (osgrid.org example)

**NOTE PLEASE DO NOT USE REGION 1000x1000, be sure to check the region list and map for open regions before starting your server.

**NOTE if you don't know you IP for the external_hostname check at http://www.myipaddress.com  it will show you what your IP is.
